There's been quite a few arguments and aggressive talk on here lately. While it is amusing alot of the time I'd like to change it up. So I think a poll or opinion is in order. What do you guys think are some good surf jams. Chili peppers? Offspring? Citzen Cope?

no brainer... ASG! they surf, they're from the east coast (wrightsville/wilm, NC), and they f'n rock. here's a better poll question, why cant we get any decent bands to play on delmarva? sure, little river band rocked the oc convention center, and rick springfield really tore up the bottle&cork, but otherwise...
check the link, y'all...

living in ocean city i find that listening to music in the car beforehand is usually better than the actual surf session itself...
It really doesn't matter what your listening to

I had a cool session when I was in Puerto Rico on the sandy beach side. There was an offshore wind, and this guy was rocking Rage Against the Machine from his house up on the beach. The offshore wind carried the sound straight out into the lineup. And the surf was good.

Anything Motown or with some good rhythm, The Temptations, Jackson 5, maybe some Smokey Robinson or The Supremes. Sometimes I jam with some SRV or some Jimi, but then right before I get in the water I usually play something heavy. If it is going to be really big or hectic, then it gets into heavy metal. August Burns Red is usually on the top of the playlist, All Shall Perish, In Flames, and Rage is always possible, and who doesn't love Thrice?

its all about the mood prior to. for the most part Id vote boyhitscar, 311, ballyhoo!, pepper, or even strung out. other days its the devil wears prada and 36 crazyfists. nothing like "reptar, king of the ozone" to get the adrenaline racing :D

IN the water? Now that would really make for a good surf session here. Instead of groveling, you could just hang out and listen to music and act cool like your surfing. Isn't that what it's all about?

Didn't mean it in a groveling way....just saying listening to music in the water...via waterproof mp3 player is an experience in itself. Can get you real in the zone.

Black Flag... haven't heard that one in awhile, that's good stuff.
Summer I go with more mellow, like some Ernest Ranglin, Bob, GLove, old hiphop, or laid back Dnb like DB. Wintertime I stick with Rage Against the Machine, or loud & fast Drum n Bass.

all depends on the surf really, but honestly if i know its reeling i find myself listening to either some old school punk like death by stereo or some gansta rap like wu tang. But really anything is good, dj shadow,STS9, Mushroom Jazz anything like really ****in crazy is good to listen to if u got a long drive, like going to hatty, Funk is always good too, really whatever im in the mood for

i listen to music every where i go...but latley I have tryed turning the radio off. it's just a different perspective. i go into the water calmer. my first 2 or 3 waves are usually much more melodic types of surfing as to the aggresive or over amped purse. I had a session not to to long ago just after some radio head. things started to work my head in a weird kind of way. the lyrics came running about while I was paddling. memorable at that.
