looks like light offshore winds, so go wherever. One thing to think about is the early morning high tide.

I'm thinkin about heading to jersey sunday. I haven't been there since the beaches opened up. I hit up monmouth beach a few times this spring. Whats the deal for the summer? Designated surf beaches? the usual before 9 and after 5? And what are they charging to get on the beach these days around monmouth?
I know Jersey has some crazy rules i just wanna be prepared
thanks

Depending on the beach you could be hit rough. I work for Manasquan Beach and weekend daily passes are $7... and you'll be lucky to find a parking spot.
Most towns have designated surfing beaches. life guards from 9-5.
I know where I'll be Sunday. That south swell will be firing :) and it will be crowded.

It varies but most of the NJ beaches in the summer have designated surf spots, in Belmar the surf beach is between 15th and 16th from 9-5. If you bodyboard they won't allow you to go on the surf beaches you have to stay on the bathing beaches
They charge around 7.00, get there early if you can or you will have a long walk to get to the ocean, parking can be insane. Have fun! :D

looks like there is someone fun ones to be had this morning in maryland.
jersey from what i see is looking a little slow on the morning outgoing tide, but there is some swell in the water. look for some fun ones as the tide switches around today. I think the midday/afternoon may end up being best in jersey. Leave a report if you can!

Swell IP ban this person.
Back on topic... AGAIN
Monmouth NJ was SICK. Water is about 50... wear boots and gloves and your hood if you don't like headaches. I went in with my camera, not sure how they came out cause it started to fog up (was really cold) Only pictures of bodyboarders because I didn't feel like going to surfing beach... But yeah... constant knee-waist waves with chest-head sets... light west wind... bringing lots of flies and ladybugs. It was clean, glassy and barreling. Couldn't ask for a better day.

I have a feeling none of them turned out well. The water was about 50 cause of south swell and started fogging up my housing...

There were bout 8-10 surfers out there, never all at the same time. seemed like people took frequent breaks to warm up in the sun. i was prepared for a crowd, but it was awesome. plenty of good waves everywhere i didn't feel like we were on top of each other. not being from the area everyone was really nice i guess the good conditions puts everyone in a great mood. did see two guys try to go in without wet suits... they got their toes wet and ran back up on the beach. no swimmers in the water yet. i can deal with cold water for days like this

No one cares if you weren't from around there, cause no locals go to Seaside during the summer :P No offense but thats my opinion. If you want a heavy local reppin' spot I can give you one and take pictures of you trying to get waves over the guys haha

Got to deal around 10am about 30-40 people out...... Water got chilly....the peak off the jetty was like a burn fest 08. Then decided to hit up pump house for a while def waist with an occ. chest. Went back out around 7pm after the tide was making it's way out still was holding solid waist with occ. chest. Good times.....

yeah it was fun at brick outgoing and high tide were really fun, it kinda had that summer weakness to it which would have been offset if the water still wasnt 45 degrees, and yeah not many locals go the pier in the summer south swells are usually better at other beaches anyway

avalon was kinda crappy in the morning with the tide dropping, 8 am sesh meant two asses on waverunners "whinning" up the lineup about 25 yards away. Got worse as the tide dropped drove to oc, mushy junk, got back to avalon mid afternoon to find rising tide constant stomach, head high drops but high tide mush shoulders, still mad fun and carvable. word.
