I heard that someone was killed by lightning in sandy hook today, sunday july 27

The beach or on the water is the last place you want to be during an electrical storm. I've have personally seen 2 people stuck by lightning on the beach, one lifeguard on a quad, and another person walking near the surf. Don't care to see it happen again......

I was pretty damn close to a few strikes in Manasquan NJ trying to herd people off the beach... scary stuff.

really bad storms! no hail at my house... ice cube size hail, I imagine would do some solid damage?

I just got back from CA at a golf camp and my bro and I went to check the ocean to see if there were any waves at Sea Bright right after church at Monmouth Beach just cuz I've been gone and missing the Atlantic. We were also deciding if it was worth going to the beach (it wasn't too stormy by then...kinda clearing up in fact) Anyway, as we were heading down to check it out, my friend, who's a lifeguard there, blew his whistle and told me to get the f off. I was like wtf but he explained to me what happened up in Sandy Hook and I was shocked lol. Pretty intense...I could've been one of those if he didn't warn me :eek: cuz I didn't know at the time there were more storms coming...thought it was just a rare severe AM T-Storm...prob would've headed down just to chill...glad I didn't

Dunno about ice cubes....but there was def at least nickel size hail beating the **** out of my car. Saw some dude running up my block from getting out the water with red marks all over him. ouch :eek:

Yea that's pretty scary stuff. There was solid nickle to quater size hail near me. I was watching the hail and hoping my glass tables outside were not going to break.

Any other Jersey photogs think to snap that beast of a storm? I'm a freak about sky photography and would love to see more.

i was surfing during it, got out and got impaled with hail n messed up my board real bad, bummer to the waves werent even fun:(

On Topic:
I was driving home from Belmar at about 1p getting pelted by what I would call about half dollar sized hail. Saw some poor bastard on a motorcycle getting hammered as he was trying to make it to the 195/Lakewood/Herbitsville RD underpass. If he was on the side of the road I would have pulled over and let him chill in the car until the pain passed, lol.

Surprisingly enough when I got back to my house in Brick, about 2 miles from that area, it had only drizzled.
