Ok some people might think this sounds crazy but I was wondering if anyone knows why the beaches have been plagued with grasshoppers? They are floating in the ocean and taking over the beaches. Yesterday on the beach was like grasshopper D-day. My bro was on the beach 2 days ago and said he didn't see a single grasshopper, and now you cant walk 10 feet without one trying to jump on you. Kinda cool, really weird. There is little on the web to explain such a thing and the local news hasn't announced anything to my knowledge. Some suggest it could have to do with natural aberrations and the quake in Cali earlier this week.

Oh and this is the Fenwick Island area. I've heard Bethany is having similar issues.

Haven't heard of that happening but over here the green flies have been horrible lately, the second you're out of the water they attack you... Wetsuits can help even though the water is warm, because just yesterday there must have been hundreds of white jellies right where I was surfing, when those red slimey ones popped up I was glad I still wore a spring suit..

Saw them in Assateague yesterday - in the ocean and at the shoreline. Also heard from friends that there were hundreds up at 130th.

Im a guard in de. and the grasshoppers have been jumping on my stand for 3 days...and im talking about 2 or 300 through out the day. Freaking weird. But more importantly everyone I know who has gotten in the water has gotten very sick. about 30 or 40 guards along de. have been reporting flu like symptoms.

oc, md was infested yesterday as well. probably linked to the fact that the west winds were blowing the day prior for the majority of the day. they get caught up just like everything else, and blow right in off the open fields and farmer's crops. either that or its the first plague of the apocalypse, and the anti-christ is on his way...

haha

confirmed on the thresher, about 6.5-7 ft, washed up on my roomate's beach he guards, pretty epic! he said it was alive..it beached itself.

not the first time this has happened.......last time there was a big fish kill at the same time,...so you had the beach covered with grasshoppers feasting on the dead bodies of fish. Now that was strange for sure,... same time of year as well,....right around the Marlin tourny..
