at the current projected path, the florida gulf coast is looking good. Unfortunately, if there is a major hurricane in the Gulf, there will be a price to pay.

very true...i would rather see it come into the gulf and move as west as possible sending it into mexico or the bay of campeche therefore having little effects on the gulf region, however that is lookin like a tough senario

Apparently Naples is off limits according to Rusty up there. On the other hand feel free to hit any beach in St. Pete, since the whole coast is going to be firing.

oh,,,, come on east coasters... after all we go bombard your asses with any little waist high bumps.
so this is an invite from one of the respectable surfers over here.
come and kill it. the entire wfl coast line should be rocking at every sandbar.
share, enjoy, stay safe....
promote friendly waters and your days will be filled with smiles.
i expect to be treated with the same respect over there, so come and enjoy.

No disrespect to any of you east coasters coming over here and surfing, after all the east coast is our home away from home for us gulf coasters. All im saying is for the previous swells we've had in the past, many surfers from the east coast came over here and took over breaks like they owned it. We respect you and your homebreak so just respect ours and the locals that way everyone can enjoy a nice Hcane swell.

hell, i'm from pensacola.... it'll take me 1 1/2 hours to get there...
plus, i got an annual pass to St Andrew's... so unless people put their boat in somewhere else... i'tll be just a handfull of people until 8:00 am when the state park opens...

I know what our brotha in the first post was talking about, i just think it was a little harsh. You guys on the east coast really dont understand how starved we are over here for a decent wave, i mean we drive 2 1/2 hours to come ride your swells. Theres no hard feelings, just respect the locals and we'll respect you. The ocean doesn't belong to any one man

Surfers over the years have obtained such a negative mindset on surfing waves and have created such a dominant perspective on the sport. You guys should be freaking ashamed of yourselves for making the surf community the way it has become. Just go out there, get wet, and enjoy sharing all of the waves God gives us. When people become cocky and arrogant is when the passion of surfing gets diluted altogether.
Peace and see you in the lineup

looks like the right side will be bigger on monday anyway ...
actually if you pay taxes anywhere in FL. you support all the beaches as mean high tide is state property so you should feel "free" to surf anywhere ...
a lot of coastline here to get crappy with anyone ...
any "local" should know how to manage or escape the crowds in their area, if you don't you need to try more of your area breaks ;)
have a good weekend everyone i will most likely be on both coasts, and not really bothering anyone ;-)
of course posting your local holiday BBQ information would be a nice thing to do for your visitors this weekend ...

Sarasota will be going off more than st. pete. Most the time we have better surf on any swell here than st.pete. You just have to hit the right spots because there are a lot of spots in sarasota u just have to hit the right one depending on the swell. Venice jetties are goin to rock also, but there will be like 100+ people there haha.

Same up in Bonita. Funny thing is this morning I checked it, surf was 1ft with a dozen guys out on logs. Half as many people in the lineup this evening when it turned on. Guess a lot of people gave up on it. Not as big as I had hoped but fun and clean. Hopefully it holds up till tomorrow. East coast looks like it'll be getting some action next week.

some fun waves but hardly epic here in venice. reached head high yeasterday afternoon and today. its dying off quick now though. the crowd factor was ridiculous though, and the worst part was everyone was all psyched out for some badass waves but they just didnt come, so that made the tension go up. its weird i surf the oter coast and never runinto any problems, then when east coasters come over here they have to run around like they own the place. to be honest there are too many kooks on the gulf coast, people on the east coast just have more respect. i have never gotten dropped in on on the east coast in all the trips i have taken there. i prolly got dropped in on 30 times the last 2 days by people that just go straight...

Kinda hard to hide in AMI when you only have maybe 3 miles of shoreline. Good spots don't stay 'secret' forever. When it gets too crowded for you it's time to go explore and find the next great secret spot. No sense getting posessive over something you can't posess. I was out at Honeymoon Island and the vibe was warm and friendly even tho it was a bit crowded and the swell was only bout chest high. It was a fun couple of days nonetheless. I definitely plan to come down and infect your break one of these days tho.
I was told about White Ave by 5 different sources from 5 different cities on the east coast, oh and my 50 year-old secretary suggested it as well - I'm pretty sure this spot hasn't been a secret for a long time. And as for parking, Gulf Ave about 3/4 mile north is perfect if you get there early enough. Faceless, shoot me a pm when you plan to hang out and I'll shoot some!

You are right the spot isn't a big secret anymore but it doesn't need anymore attention by posting the name of the break with your shots.Shots were nice by the way. What were the 5 cities you are talking about, let me guess? They were Satellite,Indian Harbor,Melbourne Beach,Coco, and orlando. What does the age of a secretary( who I presume female right) or the sex or job description have to do with anything?I guess it comes down to a respect thing which is lacking in people today.Come to our beaches surf and have fun.Be respectful and don't act like you own it.Don't post the names of spots in pictures. Why couldn't you just put Fl Gulf Sarasota County in your pics? How easy is that.Wouldn't you want the same for your spots?

well, i went to the 'not so secret' spot in panama city..... it must have been the right decision, seeing as how Shea and Corey Lopez, Pete Mendia, Asher Nollen, and Ryan Briggs were there.
it was decent, no where near EPIC, but better than sitiing at the house.
I guess it comes down to a respect thing which is lacking in people today.
I was there and saw surfers from East and West sharing waves and being respectful. I would have more respect for your argument if it wasn't so futile and beyond it's relevance. AMI, White Ave in particular, is as much a secret as Area 51.
Come to our beaches surf and have fun.Be respectful and don't act like you own it.

By the end of it all, our secret spot became THE spot on the key, which I guess sucks but the times, they are a'changing
