drive 15 hours from mid state PA to surf this weekend? It is your call im not too sure. I have trouble reading swell models and weather updates and cannot decide if it will be worth it. Also if I do make it to the ocean do you know of any shops that rent wax or bathing suits? Ill be riding my paper thin Merrick so what type of leash should I wear? I surf a couple times a year but I am thinking about driving for this storm because there could be good sets of waves that will shoot me out of the barrel.

Should I make the trip or not?

PS: I really hope the breakers will be swelling!!

Thanks

KS

Lowers was pumping last week. got shot out of a barrel at Lowers!

With the wind forecasted I don't see being shot out of any barrels happening unless you can find a south facing beach that can catch this swell.

No....I think you should stay on your farm and get your pumpkin patch going. :D

Why ride waves when you can ride tractors? :D :D

Not sure what part of Pennsyltucky you're in but I'm pretty sure you can get to a beach on the Right Coast in under 15 hours. Unless you're driving that tractor of yours. Saw a video of you at Lowers during the last contest...I don't know about getting spit out of any barrels but you were killing it for sure.

thanks for the input. im going to ask my mom if its cool and try to make it down to the ocean. does anyone know the names of any secret spots i could roll up to? i travel with about 8 guys not all surfers. some of the guys are sea kiyackers, stand up paddle boards, skimmers, boogie boarders and surf fisherman . let me know and maybe we can surf ride together...

should i wear a hood?

thanks

It will be one fire, make the drive.

3rd ST in DelMarVa is the place to be. Not so much a secret but the sandbards are perfect right now. Also the street should pick up this swell perfect and has just the right bend to make these winds slightly offshore. You won't need a hood but 7mm boots and gloves are needed.

Oh and this swell requires waxing the bottom of your board for those 'in and out' barrels!

Why not try stopping at the Candle Factory over there in PA, they'll rent you some wax.
And, are you guys serious, thinking KS would be sitting at a computer and blogging with us over here in Jersey/Delaware???

Holy **** I've seen some dumb remarks but yours pal takes the cake!

OK this is 1 of 2 things

A This is someone yanking chains to get a rise and having kicks making obvious ignorant remarks such as "renting wax"
OR
B This really is a wanna-be clueless poser who has no business being in the water. My advice is IF you can't read the forecast and interpret weather (any REAL surfer or someone who used to do it can at least do that) DON'T BOTHER GETTING IN! But if you have enough balls I'm sure there are 'local' teachers that will give ya a schooling lesson boy!

I wish my local shop offered wax rental. Instead of shelling out big bucks for costly wax, I could just rent and when I'm done I could scrape it off my stick, return it and collect my security deposit.
