Indo brought me the waves I have dreamed of riding since the late 80's. I cannot wait to return in 09 or 2010.

I'd have to say Indo. as well. It would be hard to choose between all of the places, but I know it would be somewhere in the Mentawias. Hoping to go back for the summer next year, and lose my return ticket................:D

That makes sense if you have never been anywhere else. I love the OBX groundswells but world class reefs are in another league.

Rincon California, about head high or just big enough so the top, the rivermouth, and lower point connect. I would also like it to be about the temperature of bath water. Where do i go for this again?

I've lived on the east coast my whole life, but I'd still have to agree with Chris. Once you have surfed Indo and other select spots around the world you just can't look at home the same anymore. I've ridden waves on days that would be considered epic on the east coast and I can tell you for sure it ain't even close..........Last summer I was lucky enough to surf a break in the Mantawai Islands called Rifles with only 3 other guys out. I can honestly say it was the most spiritural day of my life. 600 yd long rides of perfect double overhead glassy barrels. In that one session I probably logged more tube time then the entire rest of my life. 80+ degree water that was crystal clear, absolutely no wind, and all the waves you could ride; if you know of a place like that on the east coast, I stand corrected.

If anyone is interested, go to http://www.mentawaiislands.com/kandui/ and see for yourself.

Do we have to pick just one ?

I've always dreamed of J-Bay a couple feet overhead - now if only the water was 80deg too

J-Bay, I hope to check that one off the list as well.

Oh yes I realize that, but I was saying i'm always going to remember good local surf sessions too and where I grew up. I would definitely agree that there are many amazing spots that kill east coast.

I haven't been alot of places other than the east coast except for waikiki. I know it is not the north shore, but I rode waves there all the way down the beach, the wave fizzles out and then raises again, i turn and ride that wave in the opposite direction again all the way down the beach. These rides can last well over 1 minute. They may not be very intense, but I will never forget those rides over 1 min long.

Did you catch it good? I have ridden Pavones at near DBL OH and must say there are better waves. I do love that wave though especially the inside barrel. Most surfers I saw riding it were weak in the knees by waves end.

I had a lot of fun in C.R at Dominical. It's not a reef though. I'm heading to Hawaii over thanksgiving so I'll have an update to this thread.

Too many spots come to mind... Cane Garden Bay, Blacks Beach (SCARY big), Cardiff Reef, Swamis, Pipes, Eleuthera, Nosara/Langosta/Negra CR, Pleasure Point, Rincon/Aguadilla PR breaks, The Cove @ The Hook, and ASSATEAGUE under the right conditions....
Hoping to surf the points of Nova Scotia one day...
