Can somebody help me out here.. How come the surf is in the green for Carolina Beach but in the red for Wrightsville on monday with the same conditions?

Do you think anything good will come about over the weekend/by monday? today's surf is looking pretty lackluster.

cb faces a little more east than wrightsville, so that lil bit of south in the wind is gonna chop it up a tad bit more in wb...however with this swell coming out of the south it will be a little bigger in wb, but carolina beach should be fun and hollow

not hating on wb, but cb has been the place of some of my best sessions... there and just north. I do however, like the girls in wrightsville much more. They actually have teethe:D

lol, I usually surf CB, and there are like 4 good looking girls all summer. It is depressing. There has been a cute girl tearing it up on a longboard down there recently though.

waves in cb are way heavier...plus there are way more spots. anyone who has surfed it on swell knows this. if you live in wb and have never gone down there you shouldn't talk any ****.

CB used to break a lot heavier than it does right now, all of our sandbars are pretty much gone and we haven't had a good bar since Hannah. Wb does break a lot softer but does have some good shorebreak every once in a while so thats a plus. I have never surfed shorebreak in CB ever!! Both beaches are very soft compared to any beach break in NJ, MD. Growing up in NJ and going to college near OCMD I received a huge awakening here when I was pulling out my long or funboard more than my shortboard. Thigh to waist high waves in NJ are completely shortboardable unlike any of the spots around here. As a CB resident I am waiting for nice fat winter storm to deposit some sand and give us our sandbars back!!! :D

yeah, you can't really surf shorebreak at CB b/c it breaks right on the beach....but it's fun as hell to bodysurf or mess around on a bodyboard...it will barrel right onto sand. the only spot i've ever surfed shorebreak there was in front if atlantic towers during the bertha swell. i've never surfed NJ, but from pics i've seen i'd have to agree with you^

WB and CB are both the better beaches in the area
its just a matter of swell and wind direction for one to be better than the other on any given day

okay the shorebreak here is breaking right on the beach and suxs. so dont say wb has good shorebreak. but we do break soft and our sandbars are still there even after the hannah swell so thats good for us.

yeah it breaks on the beach at c-street, but if you were to look elsewhere, some spots on the island have decent high tide shorebreak

I surfed a good high tide shorepound spot about a month ago just north of mercers, and got harrassed by the feds  I got scolded like i was 13 yrs old cause I took a left into the 250yd zone north of the pier. Glad the jacobs dont harrass people like that in CB.

From all the pictures I've seen it appears that way, but it also seems that it's pretty shorepoundy...like right on the beach. Are the bars up there just way closer to the shore than ours? Or are they just better?

There are all kinds of breaks where I grew up in Southern NJ, take Atlantic City for instance, in a stretch of 3 blocks, the waves break different in each spot. With all the pilings, piers, bulkheads, jettys etc. the sand holds differently at each spot. There are spots in AC that break on the beach like Crystals and Metros, and some pointbreak-esqe spots like New york ave and S. Carolina ave. These spots break consistantly off a bulkhead or the end of a go-kart pier. Check out some of the videos of NJ and you will see all kinds of breaks.
