Just picked up used board with a bunch of dumb stickers on the bottom. Started taking them off but adhesive is sticking to board and would likely create extra friction. Anybody know the best stuff to get the stickers and gunk off or a good home remedy maybe.

Thanks all and Happy New Year.

Lacquer thinner will take it right off.

Lacquer thinner may be too abrasive. Test it in a small spot first. Definitely either WD-40 excellent adhesive remover, or some acetone, found in nail-polish remover.

Then, a razor blade and some patience, and a steady hand will do the trick.

try goo-off or goo-gone, whatever its called, should lift it and you could scrap it with a razor or probably even a credit card.

Acetone is a fiberglass thinner or cleaner and I wouldn't recommend using it on a surfboard. Lacquer thinner is the main ingredient in 3m adhiesve remover and Goof-Off. You'll be fine using it just don't let it set for a long period of time. Put a little on a paper towel or rag and rub the area you need to clean.

i got a new board a while ago and couldn't get the adhesive from the price tag off with anything, goo-gone and all that stuff wouldn't do anything, i finally resorted to lighter fluid, it came right off no problem.

yeah i was just rooting through my cabinet for any sort of spirit or thinner, and the lighter fluid was advertised as an adhesive remover on the back label.

Hey snowbird if you still need it you can go out and buy the sex wax wax remover and try to find something called the pickle and it will pull that stuff right off your board. And something extra. If the board is kinda old you should put some rain x on the bottom around your fins and tail to help you out with speed.

thanks for the ideas - for my own edification I tried several of the suggestions (1) rubbing alcohol; (2) nail polish remover; and (3) WD40. My conclusion, the alcohol was most effective. So, next time you need to strip a sticker, start with the alcohol. Cheap and easy.

As an aside, finally got on a mountain yesterday for first time this year. Hey, snowboarding is real fun too if anyone forgot.............
