Im heading down to Southern OBX early Thursday morning. What is my best bet? Looks like buxton on the report. My final destination is Ocracoke, will that be similar to Frisco?

If it's a SW wind, anything south of Buxton is a waste of time. If the wind is from the North, anything north of Frisco is a waste of time. Yes, Frisco and Ocracoke will be fairly similar as far as conditions go. Don't waste your time with the fairy ride unless you want to go searching for some uncrowded breaks. Good luck.

stop by around Frisco Pier just to check conditions - somtimes you can get pleasantly surprised about a half mile in either direction of the pier. otherwise, Buxton is usually pretty good - but like stuckinva said, completely dependent on winds...

The reason im going down to O-coke is to do a little camping with some friends. I was hoping to catch something on the way down Thursday & maybe on the way out. Looks like Thursday in the Frisco region could be whats up. Thanks for the feedback fellas

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Lot of uncrowded spots on Ocracoke but you gotta hunt for them. Just saying that the conditions won't be any better there than Frisco, but there is a 45 min fairy ride to Ocracoke, so its sort of a waste if your hoping for something different than Frisco/Hatteras area.

if u have a 4x4 ive always found some nice bars with good waves at a little north of ocracoke inlet and you will be all by yourself..
