Anyone ever traveled to Bocas Del Toro?

I went in march, went to the pacific and caribbean (at bocas) side. In my opinion stay away from bocas, and go to one of the breaks on the pacific. In bocas we spend double the amount of cash (compared to the pacific side) , we were robbed twice, and an american guy we met down there was ruffied by some locals who ended up taking his passport and all his cash. The Pacific side, has way more consistent waves, you can live off 10 - 20 dollars a day, and the locals are way cool. Santa Catalina was by far the best break, overhead sets every day we were there, crazy long right.

I might go in December. How was yalls experience. What package did you use? Or did you plan on your own? If anyone has any other trips they would recommend for December let me know.
