Cape Cod and Montauk

Anyone know how it held up at either of these places? I surfed in NJ, but I thought about staying in Cape Cod or taking the trip to MTK.

(this was in wellfleet) saturday on cape cod was pretty fun with solid overhead waves, the morning was pretty awesome clean conditions, afternoon was more of the same with a little fog. Sunday morning was horrendous with awful conditions, fortunately the afternoon was better (in my definition) with double overhead long period sets, the catch was it was really hard to get out and it wasnt perfect conditions (i was one of 6 surfers who made it out at a break) but there were some good waves to be had. this morning was fantastic with clean chest to overhead waves. i was out all weekend long and my only regret is that this swell didnt last very long

good stuff. i was in the cape from 13th-19th and it was totally flat. i got a permit to take my truck to the national seashore by race pt to truro and it was beautiful. hundreds and hundreds of seals, empty beaches and seriously tropical looking warm water. i kind of had mixed emotions going home for this swell (nj). i think it would have been cool to catch it at the cape. in truro, there were like 5 or 6 sandbars that must have been 200+yds out that at middle tide, knee high waves were breaking and it was TOTALLY flat everywhere else. i actually paddled out to it just to get loose and was able to walk around n **** once i got there. i can't imagine how hard it went off when this swell came through. there were a few jutting points that also must have been sick. i'd love to see some pics. i uploaded a few to illustrate. waterproof cam is pretty fun in small surf.

that thing htat looks like a jetty is just a sh*tload of seals.

the other pic is a view of my truck from the crazy sandbar.

the pic with the wave breaking again is 200+ yards out in the ocean and i was standing up. it was kinda trippy.

I've always wanted to go to the outer to surf, but the problem is during swells like bill the national seashore often closes the entrance and then most of their beaches (they are open to surfers only).

good stuff man, i've been dying to know what it looked like up there. how was the current?

that was the one thing i would be somewhat worried about would be the tide really coming up and knocking off the area that could be driven on. there are a few areas that have paths that can be walked up on. i would the think the angle would have been awesome for this swell.

when i said the catch was getting out into the lineup, i forgot to specify that there was a brutal longshore current that extended about 50 yds off the beach, but once you got past that and you were in the lineup the current was nominal and very slow. and yes you're right the angle for this swell was perfect for the cape.

Montauk was going off Saturday night through Monday Morning. Sunday morning had close to 15 foot faces. Someone was towing in at the lighthouse.

my buddy surfed up there this weekend, and he was telling me it was that big. he's one of those, "DUDE IT'S WAY OVERHEAD" when it's really chest high type of people. i guess he wasn't kidding this time.
