Lost an EON fin this summer in OCMD seeing if anyone mighta picked it up. Told my buddy not to use em but he did anyway and lost one. I only use them in winter because they fit over the 5mm bootie, and not a lot of fins will do that for my foot. Also a complete ***** to find these online.

So if I can't replace these fins, what are some other options as far as what some of ya guys use for winter fins that fit over a bootie? I need stiffness and a downwards kick/thrust pattern. SIZE XL

the "Blunt Cut" has what I have found to be the largest foot wells,>>> width. ChurchHills as well, but largest size only?

I get the XL's and I am able to have 5mm booties on and the fit is perfect. Plenty of room so that your toes do not smash together. Very Comfortable.

hands down the most comfortable fin on earth is Hot Buttered Fins. Difficult to find in the US, but if you do, get em! Fenwick Island Surf SHop carried them way back, not sure who does now? Maybe Jay @ e?

In fact, I boogied forever as a kid and never got a cramped foot.

They are the best fins EVER for standups and dk's because they are super light weight. I find they are also great for some winter bodysurfing. They are THE ONLY fin I could ever use ontop of traditional surf boots (not neo 5 mil socks!)

I always ordered mine from oz, I found the $30 shipping was worth it. I bought a pair in 1999 and I still use them today.

I use Laguna Swim Fins. They have a soft foot bed and are super comfortable.

I have a size 13-14 foot and these are the only fins I can wear without my feet cramping

I used my friends bz's and they had alot of room... big pocket, but they were really old to. I'd check them out tho. In the past I used my churchies but lost one and gave one to a friend in need, so I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be picking some up soon, so I'll let you know what I get & how they feel...

Dont get the Laguna fins. I have 12-12.5 shoe size. I use XL churchills, the feel weird compared to my viper (for summer)...meaning the thrust is different. However, i can fit in the with my 7mil boots in the dead of winter

So far all the input has been great so thank you for that. Jay over at ebodyboarding said he has never heard of them (eon fins) I know I saw a link on his site months ago but I cannot find it anymore. I've tried out the Makapuus and they are decent I guess I'd have to take in my booties to the surf shop to see if they can fit over top. Anyone try the MS Vipers over top 3-5mm booties yet? The Tech's look about the same as the Eons but they look too flimsy for my kick style.

I just wish the original Vipers fit Dammitt!!

Hey come into Kcoast with your booties and I'm sure we will be able to help you find something that will work. Also, one of our "shop" fins has a very similar shape to the EON. I'm not sure if we have them in stock in a 12 but I have a personal pair and I'm sure we could work something out.

Mr. mikedub you are the man. I'll try to get in soon, probably get some new booties while I'm at it. I got my Vipers there last year and they have been nothing but terrific all summer long!

I bought the exact same EON fins a couple years ago at Liquid in Rehoboth...don't know if they still carry the brand, but worth giving them a call...I wear Custom X in the winter over 5mm and they're super comfortable.

Although they are Nomad NX fins and not Eon fins. Maybe Eon changed or sold the copyright to Nomad.

The original Tech fins are one of the wider foot pockets that are readily available @ most retailers I have been wearing them with 5mil boots (not socks) for years during the winter. Vipers are a very narrow foot pocket in general. I have Vipers, Kicks, Custom X, Redley, Chuchill & Tech original & the Tech's are the best for me in the winter.

I will second what Chuck says here about the fins and the pocket width with a minor personal preference for winter: Hydro Tech (these came after the Hydro Finz Original and before the Tech 2) - the Hydro Tech blade isn't quite as wide and stiff and has a slightly simpler blade than the Finz. I would still prefer a "winter" version of the Vipers, i.e, a larger foot pocket.

I agree with you on a winter version of a Viper. Thanks for all of your inputs, especially chuck. I will be making my decision soon, and will more than likely end up in k-coast since they got the best selection of fins around these parts.

If you go to K-Coast & try on the fins, try them on with 5mil boots not socks. That way you know you have plenty of room. If it feels like it's pinching the sides of the foot initially, then try a different pair because it will only get worse if you have them on for any period of time.

P.S. Skip the expensive fin savers & go with good round athletic shoelaces instead. In the 20+ years I have using shoelaces I have yet to lose a pair of fins.

Don't worry my man, I know better than to go there without the booties, and I got some fin savers there before a few years ago cause I haggled them when I lost a Custom X fin and tried to get them to sell me the store display model, since I only needed one. Well they wouldn't so I ended up buying a new pair, and they threw in the fin savers for free. That left me with 3 fins all the same, which (go figure) I lost one of them in NC and didn't bring the backup fin. THUS, led me to get the Eon fins.

So the story comes back around again.

I got the Vipers there last winter during a sale and I tried them on with the booties and immediately knew that it wouldn't work out. So I bought them anyway and waited till summer to use them and they have been the best fins I've had to date. Those "Original Techs" look pretty decent so I might end up coming home with a new set.

While on the subject of winter gear.... how about winter bodyboards? I learned that some boards are just too stiff for the cold water in winter, anyone know of some decent boards that give a decent amount of flex, but hold their rigidity? I've been looking at some Nomad bodyboards in the 42.5 range or something along the lines.. the one I am looking at has a variable flex triple stringer, which I'm thinking might be too stiff. Right now I'm using a board with double stringers. Any positive input is desired.

wearing fins over booties can make such a big difference.

You should bring your booties into a shop, and try on some different fins to see which ones fit best.

My summer fins fit great, but any 3mm or 5mm booties makes my feet really cramped up and uncomfortable. For me, if I go up a size, then they are too big.

So, you might just have to switch brands, until you find the one that fits right with your booties. You are of course going to have your favorite brand, but if they dont fit with your booties, then they are worthless.

when i use the shoe lace as a fin teather,i tie them in a loop, then loop it around the fin.then,i slide a barrel clip or some kind of bead down on the string, that way when i put my foot through the loop, then in the fin,i just sinch the bead or barrel clip up to the back of my ankle.viola! you have a very effective cheap-@ss fin teather:D
see my attachment bellow of my homemade jobbie-jobs.you can kinda see how'd they'd go on your foot & fin.i can take another photo of them on if anybody wants to see them on a fin & foot

Block Surf makes an inexpensive but solid fin tether that is great for warm & cool water (effective circumference up through 3/2 wetsuit + 1mm or 2mm wetsocks). For cold water I would recommend contacting Jay Reale, ebodyboarding.com, to find out what he has in stock that has an extra long wraparound ankle strap (for 6/4 wetsuit and 5mm to 7mm of fin socks) and an easy to grab pull tab on the lycra strap (because when you fingers are numb it is hard to get a good grip).

Dude, I just bought those EON fins at Bethany Beach Surf Shop in August. Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier.

BTW, I didn't even know they were EON, the box just says "e"

I just bought a custom 1 stringer board with 2 layers of mesh and LOVE it. I like my boards stiff.
Take a look at
No6 Idol
NMD/VS new 3D core boards
Custom X's new mixed core boards (not sure if they are out yet)
or PE duel stringer

Haha I thought they were called G fins at first cause the logo looks like a G

bodyboarddude, I know how to start a decent topic and keep it rolling.

Yah someone said Bethany Beach Surf Shop had em. My buddy, the one who lost one to begin with was going to buy them for me but they only had size L.

I contacted Liquid and asked them, but no response yet.
