Some lows have a well defined spin to them...so if a low pops off of Hatteras, and say it has a counter clock wise spin to it..... imagine a big clock off the coast and it's spinning and the north end of the system the winds are clocking around from the North(at 12 o'clock) while at the southern end of the system the winds are coming from the south(6 o'clock)
