Just bought 5mil xcel lobster claws. Hope they work out OK. Pretty cheap on Amazon right now.
One thing I do not really get about dry lock gloves is why do you need to stay dry. I understand it will be warmer but when I get out of 38 degree water and take off my 7mm claws there is water inside but its warm like the tropics. I have been out for hours in 7mm boots gloves and a 6/5/4 suit all of which let some water in and am never cold unless I sit out beyond the break without paddling for 20 minutes or more. The key to staying warm in the winter is to paddle.
I ened up with 5mm drylock claws, I know I said drylocks suck but they appear to be constructed much differently now as opposed to 2 years ago, and the shop I got them from (local support!!!) confirmed they had a lot of drylock returns that year.
I also got West 5mm 5 fingers for the not so cold days, very nice glove, got them from my Cosmic Bull Surfboards.

ha most of the people down here in va beach are total kooks. I have seen so many people wearing gloves and the water is still around 60. I went out last night at the ever so famous 1st st and there was a guy in a 4/3 with gloves and boots and it was a warm 67 degrees outside... I had a 3/2 on with booties and was good for 2.5 hours+
Why do you care? And ur soo cool cuz u wear a 3/2 with boots. Its personal preference. Let surfing speak, not wetsuit color or thickness or squid lid.Quote:

I have the 5mm 5 finger gloves and the 7mm mitts for the really cold days. 5mm are great for most conditions. Hands never get cold with the 7mm's but man, they suck getting on properly.
