About 10 years ago I was in Sheboygan. Had to go up that way for work. I got to the hotel and there was an advertisement for a surf contest. I totally did a double take. This was before Step Into Liquid or any of the other movies had documented what was going on up there. So I just had to drive to the lake to check it out. It was pretty flat, but I could see how some of those spots could get fun. Later I stopped at a pizza place in town. I walked up to the counter and asked the guy for a slice of plain. He looked at me like I had two heads and said in that funky northern accent, "Slice? No we only sell whole pies." I laughed and walked out of there knowing whatever he was about to serve me was not pizza.
