When Little Malibu is working is it appropriate for beginner-intermediate surfers? Some websites say yes, some say experts only. We are going over New Years and I'm trying to pick a place to stay. Options are North end of Sandy Beach (Antonios) or at Little Mailbu. I have teenagers. Any rec's would be appreciated.

Little Malibu is nothing like Malibu, I believe it was named with a bit of irony. It actually makes my list of waves with teeth on that island, along with the likes of Dogmans and Crash Boat. There are, however, plenty of beginner friendly breaks in the rincon area from the sandy bottoms of Sandy's and nearby Parking lots, to the more mellow reefs like pools and Maria's (assuming it's not huge, because then it's Tres Palmas). Domes is nice also. Just keep your whit about you and watch out for 'da rocks!
Rincon has a very extensive coastline with many breaks of different sizes, bottoms, and crowds. I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND RAMSES MORALES. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. CONTACT HIM. He is a very experienced local surfer who will take care of rentals, and bring you anywhere you want to go. He will guide you through the local surf breaks, introduce you to locals, and guide you advice on surfing, and the local culture. As an experienced surfer, it was amazing to surf along side Ramses. We had an awesome freesurf session at marias and he gave me many crucial pointers to improve my surfing technique. We surfed two days in a row, and by the end of the second day, I had gotten to know the area and local customs, made new friends, and improved upon my surfing a lot! I loved the fact that Ramses shared the same "surfing fever" that I had: the same feeling of always wanting to surf and never wanting to stop. little malibu is not a beginner wave at. its filled with rocks and pistons so you should only surf there if you're confident in your ability to spot and maneuver around obstacles that could potentially trash you and your board. little malibu and sandy beach are within a 10 minute drive of eachother anyway so it doesn't make a difference where you stay unless you only want to talk to the beach (which i wouldn't recommend there are so many great breaks within a short drive of eachother, the max in the rincon being 10 minutes)
