I was pointing out the fact that calling the entire state of New Jersey lame is egotistical; but, so is calling yourself a pro and stating your location as "Your girlfriend['s] house."
Lighten up man, don't be such a Richard Johnson all the time. Take 'er easy, life's too short. The dude who started this thread, which has been completely derailed, for which I apologize, was just looking for some help.
Show some g-ddamn empathy.
I surf Folly and was actually getting excited about the report for the rest of the week and trying to make the decision of going to work early and getting in the afternoon or dawn session and working late.
FBP seems lame but I gotta agree that NJ is lame too. People of NJ should revolt against any TV dollars coming into their state because the rest of the nation/world is really getting sick of you guys and your housewives, drunks MTV'ers, mediums and the next lowlife that comes out of the state.
Are people from NJ proud of how the state is portrayed?
DISCLAIMER: Your surf rocks compared to mine but I don't need a beach pass.
Who cares!! I'm not from Jersey but drive up to surf there all the time and have been for at least 20 years. In all of those trips I've never once even thought about "how the state is portrayed" and I've never needed a beach pass...its not like i try to surf at noon on a crowded beach in the middle of the summer ! Do you guys that are actually from New Jersey really agonize over how your state is protrayed by MTV. Do you worry about what i think about your "housewives"? Have any of you ever actually bought a beach tag to surf? None of the people i know up there seem to give a sh!t about any of this stuff.
u can bring shortboards on the train.no longboards.i did it my whole youth.did u really get a dui?i really dont care but it seems the kooks are given ya a hard time for losin your ls.i have buddies who have suspended ls from 1989!!with all the fines and surcharges, its easier to drive off the radar.like some others say,nj only breaks a few times a year.i only go out when its good to epic.screw little 3-4ft,its not for me.once its 5-6ft then im out there spendin time in the shythole!!but seriously dont drink a drive.i lost 2 buddies that were killed by a drunk driver, and my buddys son was drinken n driven and hit a woman and killed her.dude got 17 years with 85% before eligible for parole....dont go down that road..dont go chasin turtles!!
im as mellow a fellow as they come. its called joking around cause its a surfing forum and its funny that people take this **** so seriously but drinking and driving is stupid so im glad he got caught. also i have family in socal and i go see them on the regular so thats why i choose to travel there. yes the waves in sc are ****ty even by east coast standards but id give up surfing before moving to new jersey i dont care how good it can get there
Thanks for the info. and lets rename this thread the follybeachpro soap box thread
am i proud of how the state is portrayed? no, not a chance. but i certainly won't argue against that perception if it keeps narrow-minded ****-tards out of the state b/c they think everyone is like what they see on tv. jersey surfers are a different breed...to some extent, we all have a chip on our shoulders & feel like we have something to prove. if you don't, you probably won't make as a surfer here; it's not for the faint-hearted.
good. we don't want you here any way. you'd prob. cry at the thought of putting on a 5/4 & duckdiving a head-high set when the water's 37°.
