Surf Photography Faces
I have been taking some shots of surfers and when I looked at the photos all the faces of the surfers had shadows. Basically it was difficult to even identify the surfer. The rest of the image had enough light however. I am currently using a Canon 7D. Can anyone suggest how I can change my shooting settings to get more light on the faces of the surfers? Thanks
shoot when the sun is shining on the surfers faces -- afternoon on the east coast, morning on the west coast. You can also over-expose the rest of the shot so that the face is properly exposed. If you have some post-processing software, shooting in RAW instead of JPG will give you a lot more room to adjust levels after you shoot.
this is exactly what i use and it works every time. there are plenty of different 3rd party softwares on the internet to do simple adjustments with.

work with lightroom 4 and lighten the shadows in the photos so you can see the faces better
