Hey bro, you gotta do what ya gotta do, you know? Whateveas man, guess you've never been broke and stoked. You gotta get the wave, man, however you got to do it, you just gotta do it.
Since we're on topic, how are the KOA campsites on the Hatteras seashore, the ones close by Rodanthe and around that general area, cuz I'm thinking about heading up there for Spring break and a cabin is a lot better than a motel and really about the same price (if not cheaper).
Frisco Woods was very nice and might still be - rather built up these days. Haven't stayed there in about 15 years. The county used to be dry and everyone brought their own liquor and beer - you could drive through the campground and see all these bottles of booze on the picnic benches. Real chill time - honor system really worked. The Frisco NPS is also a nice setup and provides some protection from the winds bec of the scrub bush. Avon is the ideal location since it equal distant to Rodanthe and Frisco if conditions merit either (and not surfing Avon which can get quite nice).
The downside of Frisco NPS campground is that in a tent there is no good escape from the sun when its warmer out. A plus when its cool out, but when its warm you could cook an omelette on your ass at 7 am. Other than the steaming ass tent problem it is a sick campground for the money.
I personally think the KOA campgrounds blow. just a different feel altogether.
Frisco Woods Campground for sure. There are trees to escape the direct sun and to hang the drying wetsuits and baggies... Hot water showers which always helps kill the chill of an late afternoon session in March.
