Alright, I need some help with excuses. 4 weeks ago during Andrea, I just called and said "I was going to make it in" and that was that. But now I am potentially changing companies and I have 16 hrs of vacation left. What should I say that is worthy?
Should I just say I am surfing for the day and so be it?

It might be as good as caught from the rogue low 2 weesk ago in OC!

as for excuses, if you're leaving the company why does it matter? Regardless just say you're taking off because you need to use your vacation time. It's really none of their concern as to why you're taking off. Start off apologizing for the late request and for putting them in this situation... I put in a request last night at 830pm and my manager was down to give me off...depends on the relationship you have with your boss too.
