What happened to the forecast this weekend ?
Specifically, the forecast for Virginia Beach.. ?
Because as of all week, and even through oh-dark-thirty on Saturday morning, the forecast on this website was for clean green & waist to better...and it was definitely NOT.
Yah, yah, I get the stuck record "forecasting is not a given, is not guaranteed, is not absolute." I get that.
However....when the forecaster calls for waist to better & improving conditions through Sunday, and the fact is that in VB it was knee high slop & did not improve by Sunday, my question is where is the accountability ?
There were a few rides at 45th Street. That was it. I know this because I literally walked on the sandbars - - walked ! - - in the water from 58th down to 42nd. That's how flat today in VB was.
Look....I respect the effort. But, people make plans & spend money, lots of money, to go surfing based on forecasts claiming to be from a perspective of expertise.
I realize that people are going to go ballistic, tell me to move to the coast, shut up, or they will spew-regurgitate the above excuses in p. 3, but save your breath this time.
If the forecast is botched, as it was this weekend, I'd like to see some accountability. Take credit & plenty of it when due. As well, take your bullet when it's your bullet.
the forecast for ocnj was about as spot on as you can get.
if you want accountability, sign up for surfline. (which is no more accurate than swellinfo).
Forecast was spot on if not better for me in nj, This has been discussed time and time agian the forecast is just a tool for you to use like weather underground , Drtving and looking ect. What it forecast dont and cant account for is local wind direction and bottom contures of each location.
And I will also say this agian Swellinfo provided us with his forecast, Forum and website for FREE . If you wanna complain that you wasted gas and money going to look for surf then maybe you should pay for surfline and when they are wrong you will actually have a reason to gripe
I hear you, but... and this is only my opinion...
All, if not most surf forecasting is based on "interpretation" of given data.
And we all know how data can be interpreted differently.
This site is pretty dead on most of the time. One of the more accurate sites I've utilized.
In fact, eyes on NJ did exactly what this site called for today.
That said, nobody's perfect.
I start here, but always check a few other resources before making a call on when and where to go. I guess you could say I "interpret" the data of a few sources myself.
stop being such a little *****...

1st street was fairly fun last night got there an hour before sun went down and every now and then some fun peaks would pop out.
yeah I actually loaded up my truck with my Quad and one of my logs got in the car and drove to various surf locations to see what was best. Made up my mind suited up and got my wetness on .
