I know what you mean. The Coast Guard is a serious commitment. If you really want to join...don't let the question of surfing hinder you. You'll have your time. Trust me...I'm a fishing/shore fanatic...
Not being able to surf is hindering a HUGE decission like that? I think you need to re-evaluate your priorities.
Some...I take that back..MOST amazing surfers I know and see in the mags have a quiver with every kind of board in it. Many have bodyboards too. Why cant it be about the stoke and not the vehicle?

The lighting was cool...the waves were beat. They were towing them in for airs with jetskis. It was weak. After they just had a session and that was cool. High tide made for a bit more action.

It is at the Trump Plaza Bar. They are lighting up the ocean for 16 east coast surfers to compete. Start at 9PM. Should be pretty cool.
