I surf mostly North Florida (sometimes venturing to CFL), but know a lot of the guys down south have to travel to Sebastian Inlet when we get E/ESE swells, because of the Bahama Blockage.

Not a TX surfer, but it seems that when you get those moving cold fronts moving from west-to-east in the winter time is the best. You get a tropical storm every once in awhile, but the gulf has not...

The LB suggestion is great, but I'd recommend a really fat twin/quad fin for typical Florida days... it'd be more like what you want when you're shortboarding, anyways.

Seriously. It's their ocean. We'll see more and more of them as they start to come back closer to shore to mate. Just keep a watchful eye out there, try and surf with people and away from fishing...
