I surfed Fire Island last year for the first time last year (Ocean Beach area) and it wasn't very good. No sandbars whatsoever. Basically had to surf some sketchy shore break. I hear it changes a lot...

It definitely depends on the beach/break you go to in LB. Some are more hostile than others. Other are a lot more welcoming.
+1. I have 2 nature shape boards and a bunch of friends have them too. Great boards.
Micah, last year when a hurricane swell was arriving you had a "hurricane mode" on the maps which seemed to change the forecast/models. Is this going to be happening again or has this been integrated...
+1. Have 2 of Mike's boards. They're great.
This seems pretty up to date:

When are you going? That is pretty important when it comes to water temp (wetsuits) to swell consistency.
Anyone see this on Surfline:

Just a 15 minute short film with Kelly, Dane, Julian Wilson, and Jeremy Flores but has some cool...
Captain Zero and Caught Inside are good.
One of my favorite's is Eddie Would Go, a biography of Eddie Aikau but also talks Hawaii's surfing history, really well written.
Pipe Dreams, the book...

Has anyone else tried to Soma airbag and have any reviews?
Also, what other travel bag brands do people have and recommend?
Thanks.
mavericks + 6'2" = disaster
Yea that's what I recommend too. I had one fixed for $5
Montauk was going off Saturday night through Monday Morning. Sunday morning had close to 15 foot faces. Someone was towing in at the lighthouse.
If it over 10 feet there will be serious problems. There will be few if any breaks that will be able to handle that swell. There will be lots of carnage and broken boards for people who aren't used...
You are sick.
Fiji's gotta be number one for me.
Haha nice.
Just curious about tropical storm invests. How are they named? It seems like they are all 90 something (current one 93L). Also, how do invests become tropical storms, it is based on wind speed or...
Yea not too exciting, hopefully better than the other euro spots.
Great, thanks.
Of similar note, do you think it's possible to have the sunrise/sunset times somewhere. This is very helpful when planning dawn patrol or an evening session. It might be somewhere but I can't find...
