If you ever question going for a wave or not the answer is always go for it!!
I've used shoe goo on wetsuit holes before, probably not the best but it worked well enough.
I'm 5'10 140 and have a 5'3 about 22" wide and 2 3/4" thick mini simmons and it floats me out of the water with my winter gear on, could have even gone shorter.
Mini Simmons!! Catches waves like a longboard and is still really maneuverable.
A Deeper Shade of Blue, absolutely blew me away.
Get a mini simmons! The little things are amazing, I fell in love with mine the first time I rode it and now I'm riding it 90% of the time. Keep it short with lots of volume and you won't be sorry.
zaGaffer long live Sublime!!
I have 4 at the moment:
-5'3 Mini Simmons (my go to board)
-6'0 Al Merrick k-small quad
-6'7 vintage Nomad single-fin
-4'11 chopped up beater shorebreak board
I picked up an old Nomad board, it's about 6'7, single-fin with more of a pin tail. I was wondering if anybody had some more information about the name as I haven't been able to find much?
On the paddle out during the Hurricane Sandy swell. Thought I was finally out and then a bigger set came through, probably 10-12 ft, made just managed to make it under the lip of the first but then...
The rules are there for a reason and they both clearly understood them. Parko would have done the same thing had he been in Kelly's position.
I'd give it a 4 so far but it looks like we're about to get 4-5 days of waves later this week that should be fun.
The cops probably "smelled weed" and started going crazy on everybody.
The thing is, when most people say its flat here in wilmy there is usually still a rideable wave. I've come to the conclusion that most people here just think they are too good to be seen in small...
Depends on how important that day of class is, some classes are always more important than others.
Not on Wrightsville beach, the police will be all over you. However, you can camp on Masonboro island or any of the other small off shore islands if you have a boat.
Find a mini simmons and you'll have a great time, I've fallen in love with mine.
Wow if we got 3 foot waves for 2 weeks straight over here on the east coast I would be ecstatic.
My 5mm xcel drylocks are nice and really warm but stay fairly wet all winter; I usually surf a few times a week though.
A friend and I tried to use soft racks to put 2 longboards on top of a civic but when they nearly slid off the back halfway to the beach we managed to somehow stuff both inside the car. I no longer...
Sometimes there is just nothing better to do, I'd rather surf small crappy waves than lay on the couch all day. It makes me feel like less of a lazy bum.
Got out on some decent knee-thigh+ for a good 2 1/2 hours today!!
Pull out the skateboard or actually make it to class/work.
53 in WB today
