Buckroe beach can have some fun waves with the right NE swell. But like lee said, if the bay waves are good the ocean waves are usually better.

that gator had a nickname "cheeseburger" , that road is very dark especially if there is no moon out. People (non-locals) will drive through to catch a glimpse of alligators up...
Croatan was fun Mon morning but was a zoo by 10:00, luckily I was done. I do agree about SI being spot on w/this little swell though.

I wear a Oneil 4/3 all winter that's rated for 55+ i think, gloves/boots are 4mm (guess I should get some 5/6mm) so I get cold quicker here in VB and more south hood is usually last minute decision,...

Not that I would notice , but having the nub makes sense - stability wise. If you have water channeling up into an empty fin box that's going to create a little more (slight) drag, maybe that equals...
follow the locals... :)
anything two + days out is going to change since it's predicted, paddled out on "red days" still had fun as long as the winds cooperated, best bet is always personally...

I stopped surfing SB when the bull sharks cut me off..near the pier..
I have the quicksilver 3/2 syncro and get the same neck burn everytime. For the last couple years its the same burn/rub mark on the back of my neck. Only complaint I have for that one.
There's been an algae bloom the last 4-5 days, typically I do the netti-pot, but I have sinus issues so it's preventative maintenance for that. But it helps after a long day in the water.

not sure where most live but if you're not within 30-40 min of surf, I'm sorry. But some P90X, yoga or core stuff is always good, mix it up with an Indo board or skate.

I'm a few years in and my 8' is really a fun ride, it is shaped to float and catch waves too.
I have a 9' and 6'10" that I'm trying to switch to (LB to shorty) but right now the LB is still more...
Think of 1st as a 30 minute heat, paddle, snake (or be snaked). Depends on my mood I guess or how many people I recognize.
Practice for the tour maaaan! 30 guys on a 30 yard sandbar? No...
