If it helps, maybe instead of giving money to Andy's kid, why not just direct the money to the charity organizations that AI was a part of, like that grom surf contest they always have in Kauai. Now that he's gone, the chances of those things continuing may be slim.

As far as the finances (doantions) I wonder how much AI had won in contests and what his contract with his sponsors provided him? Seeing how he won The World Title you would think he was being compensated pretty well. I also would think there would have been a life insurance policy provided since being a pro surfer might have made it hard to buy one on his own. Insurance companies might view surfing Pipe , Chopes etc to be a "high risk activity" lol
I would guess any life insurance policy would require autopsy results (if performed) prior to payoff.

i think the autopsy reports have been done but the wife is holdig them from being released to the public due to the fact the reporters are camping in her front yard.
His widow filed an injunction to block the release of the autopsy results
“Should the autopsy report be released now,” reads the injunction request, “Lyndie Irons and her newborn child would suffer immediate and irrevocable harm in that the branding value would be greatly diminished as a result of the intense news frenzy.”
Damage to the brand probably wouldn't occur if cause of death was natural causes/dengue would it ?
Would a life insurance policy pay off if death was cause by an accidental overdose ?
my friends cousin died in a small plane crash in florida last month and all the investigators and news people wanted to know was who was flying the plane because they thought it would have made a difference. It didn't, it brought more sadness and grief to the family. So is finding out how he died going to change anything? it's not going to bring him back to life so why do scummy reporters want to make a buck off tarnishing his legendary name?
It's sad that such a great surfer had to die so young and leave behind a wife and unborn child. For the sake of the family and surfing, I hope all the rumors are false. This latest news does not bode well, however. It seems kind of crass to, on the one hand, set up a donation fund for the family, while on the other hand using legal maneuvers to delay the results of the autopsy to protect financial interests from facts that might diminish those interests. Maybe if the autopsy results show that he was hopped up on goofballs when he died the public might be kind of disgusted and no longer consider him as much a legend or want to buy products that get pimped with his name. That must be the "damage to the brand" his wife and other interested parties are worried about. Since AI was such a public figure, it's inevitable that the facts will be made public. Filing an injunction to delay such disclosure isn't going to make it go away.
Even tho I three with skegleg ,I hope Andys kid doesn't grow up and read this thread one day, and see how avbunch of people argued about if him and his widowed mom deserve charity from the surfing community .
