Surfing in the rain/water quality

So tomorrows swell looks pretty fun for the afternoon but the weather looks like its gonna be rainy all day. I've surfed in the rain plenty of times in the summer but never in the winter, anyone ever do it? Could be annoying while changing in and out of my suit outside.

Also with all the rain I'm wondering what the water quality will be like, it was pretty brown last week and I'm thinking it could be pretty nasty tomorrow, I guess I'll just have to find out. Anyone on here ever get sick from surfing during/after a lot of rain and nasty water?

it will be annoying when changing - but at least it wont be really cold
changing when it's snowing on you is really annoying too but more so due to the temperature as opposed to the precipitation

never had a problem here in ocmd due to runoff, when there is swell it going to stir up the water and we dont have any rivers flowing into the lineup, not sure where the stormwater drains empty to but pretty sure they flow into the bay - I use a neti pot/nasal flush after surfing in the winter to clear my sinuses each time anyway, this may help prevent sickness a bit too, seems to make a big difference for me.

I think you are less likely to get sick from surfing in the rain in the winter aposed to the summer. There are less cars on the road to drip fluids on the street and there are less ppl in town . So the volume of water used it less makin the risk of illness smaller.

Try to avoid surfing next to or near drainage pipes and you should be OK.

I got pretty sick after a session near a pond overflow pipe once...everyone that went did. It was warm, and most likey due to the high abundance of goose poo water flowing out of the pipe.

I think its prob about the same. I dont care what they say that rock salt cant be good.
