    I dunno

I dunno. Last winter I surfed almost weekly and/or at least bi-weekly.
This winter I cant remember the last time I paddled out.
Is it becuase of the extreme cold or what?
Are you all experiencing a similar winter?

This is not the normal pattern for winter around here. Usually we get a series of Nor'Easters with at least some degree of regularity, and that does not seem to be happening. The past few weeks, however, have provided some fun surf, if you're able to get on it when it happens. But yea... you're right. Very inconsistent this year, with a relative lack of "epic" days that we look forward to as year-rounders.

Yea this winter has sucked for me. No new equipment, lack of job, and ****ty weather. Have been going to the gym but I know as soon as I hit the water I'll feel like a kook. It will take a couple of sessions to get back in the groove. Plus it seems like my fingers get numb and toes get numb just standing in the cold. I wonder if this has to do with all the past winter session's where I had slight hypothermia. Anybody else have this problem?

I have to say the lack of Big day compared to last winter are more present. But this winter has provided us with a cpl fun swells. The 3 week flat spell after christmas was a hard one to handle

la nina. jet streams and such. i suppose. the weather patterns shifted enough to the north east of you guys that the storm systems arent producing typical swell energy. Seems like its just right on top of the land a lot. No ocean fetch. No huge swells have hit CA or even HI this winter. Swells yes, but huge no. Things will change though. It will happen. Probably late winter early spring time. Little warmer, bigger better surf. Lets hope.

That about summed it up. This winter hurt my surfing a lot. I was doing some sick turns around october, after being able to surf 1-2 times a week. Then when the cold water and the flat spells came, BAM! I'm struggling since I only get wet about once evrey two weeks
