I'm leaving before you get here, but I might be able to give you a few tips. What part of the island are you guys staying on?

Bummer when do you leave? We will be in San Juan and I'll have a rental car so I can venture off and find some waves.

Yeah, I leave Saturday. Im not familiar with the San Juan area because there isnt really surf there but you might want to drive up to Isabela or Aguadilla. Both are fairly close, but you might need to do some driving. Rincon is a little far, but if you're up to it there are some really good breaks there. I've never been here, but I found this one wave on surfline you might want to check out: http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/...o_6702/travel/

I found this map thing really helpful, check it out if you plan on driving out:

Awsome ! Ya I wanted to stay farther to the west on the island but the wife didn't want to, so now I'll be driving more but oh well. How are the locals? Ive surfed Texas my whole life and really never had any issues with locals mainly because there's no wave worth fighting over . But I'm not an idiot I know there's a pecking order at the better breaks. Great Info thank you. How's the surf been?

there is waves in san juan. la ocha is where most people go because there is usually always something breaking there. its in the section of town called condado i believe, to the east of old san juan. its a nice right that breaks over shallow reef.
