I want one with an AIR BAG for those shallow break days.
How about blue-tooth? Can I get a board with blue-tooth?
i'm kind of disgusted by the very idea of this. we already ride boards shaped out of materials that aren't eco-friendly, and many ride boards shaped by pop-out manufacturers. The idea that this will ultimately improve boards is preposterous. guys have literally shaped great boards in their crappy back yards and garages. there is no place for this in surfing.
but yes this was sort of interesting.
Here is what I am talking about.... HERE SHARKY, SHARKY

Despite the claims of many "guru" shapers, no one really knows what water really does under a surfboard. There are a lot of theories, but it's mostly speculation. When car manufacturers design a body they put it in a wind tunnel and test it's aerodynamic characteristics. Why not do the same type of research for a surfboard. I'm all for gaining more knowledge of how water flows across the bottom of a surfboard under certain conditions. I bet we would find a lot out that we didn't know. The last 60+ years of surfboard design is mostly based on a book written in 1946 called Naval Architecture and Planning Hulls. I think it's probably time to update ourselves a bit. But that might require surfers to pay a little more money and most of us are a bunch of cheap ba$tards.
Your an idiot
This has nothing to do with your eco-friendly crap or pop out surfboard manufactures. These guys are doing research and development to try and figure out to improve surfing as a whole. Just like another stated with car manufacturing, do you think back when they hit 100mph they said alright thats perfect lets stop? No, they continued to figure out ways to make cars faster and faster.
If these guys can use all the data they get to design a better working surfboard or something then more power to them.
first of all, not to be "that guy" but when you call someone an idiot, you should probably say "you're" in order to strengthen YOUR argument of my idiocy.
second of all, i'm not disputing whether or not this will improve surfing. i'm disputing whether or not this should be done. Surfing (and as an extension, board shaping) is supposed to be a near-spiritual experience.
I'm sure we could devise an advice-giving computer program that would help you with all of your marriage problems or anything in your life and it could efficiently and effectively sort out your troubles.....why use the Bible*, or consult your friends when those aren't the "best" ways to solve your troubles anymore?
*or whatever religious book of preference you have is
fyi, the Hawaiians didn't/don't need sensor boards to "improve surfing as a whole"
first off great shamble, everyone loves a grammer nazi.
but you are still an idiot, because no one in the surfing world is going to lose out on anything, in the pursuit of gaining more knowledge about their sport. dont be afraid of change. surfing might seem perfect but there is always room to grow. dont be the guy to slow down progress.
to quote JFK
" change is the law of life, those who live in the past and present are certain to miss the future."
sumthin like that
