    Florida

I know its not a great place for waves but is there any place that anyone recommends to go in Florida in June for a quick visit that might offer some waist high waves?

Im looking for a nice area with places to eat and nice hotels to enjoy with my wife, any suggestions?

    Thanks

thats easy...New Smyrna Beach..i was there last june and loved it.

the Inlet is consistently waist high+ from SE trade wind swell in the summer. There are peaks stretching down the beach a ways on both sides so it spreads the crowds out and its not all that crowded to begin with.

Its kind of a low key area with places to eat / stay / etc.

What Mitchell said on New Smyrna as your best bet plus over 10 miles of beach to choose your break. I guess Fla Tourism must be down as their some screaming great deals in Fla right now with cheap flights and hotel discounts. So if you choose New Smyrna area might be cheaper to fly into Daytona International than New Symrna Regional. If you don't take your board their are 6 surf shops right on S. Atlantic for rentals. If you can't find the ("nice") Hotel your looking for to score brownie points with the wife drop me a PM.

We have discussed this area of FL on many different threads. The end result of the conversation is usually everyone agreeing that the sharks there are not dangerous. There is obviously a fear factor involved, but getting a few stitches on the leg is usually the outcome down there. Every knows that Florida is the shark attack capital of the world....

There are very few fatalities there though. Last guy that died off the FL coast from an attack as that poor kite surfer a couple years ago... apparently he bailed from his kite board a couple miles off the coast and literally landed in a feeding frezny of sharks and they tore the guy up. It was just the worse timing even really. Just a freak occurance.

Im no more of a shark fan than the next guy, but those sharks in florida dont worry me. There are far less shark attacks in the red triangle and off OZ and South AFR, but those are almost always fatal. Those are from BIIIIG fish. Not little ankle biters....
