Driving through mexico to central america???

I'm driving down to Nica and El salvador April or May for a few months. Since I am coming from Texas and will be on the eastern side of Mexico away from the major drug and violence areas I'm wondering how safe it is these days. I've driven around mexico for 20 years but now I am wondering about things. Anyone driven or heard from people who actually have driven through lately.

Yes.....I'm trying to find some of the more active forums.

It will be interesting to hear what people say.....many people still drive even on the west side of Mexico. )

i couldn't help u because i had have never traveled through that way .... i live in wisconsin yes ofcourse a cheesy state of America .... i guess u should simply find some info through Google map ...
