Machado and Melai sessions band in VB

Ok so last night Rob Machado and Melai drifter sessions movie was at the NORVA in norfolk VA. The show was super entertaining and definitly a cool experience. Basically as the movie played, Rob Machado, Jon Swift and the other guys in the band (including an amazing violinist) watched the film and played the soundtrack live. Very cool experience and I relally enjoyed it. THis is how all surf films should be shown.

This was a great way to end a weekend that started with a "sick day" call in forwork that eneded up sputting me on chest high clean set waves early on Friday morning on the southside of the VB pier then fun stomach high waves til around noon. Great way to bookend a fun weekend in VA

Caught the same show at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park last Friday night... good time. Even got to talk with Machado for a few minutes before the show at the restaurant across the street where he and his mates were having dinner... Langosta Lounge, where Lightly Salted Surf Shop is. Great vibe, great food... followed by great music and good friends.

Yea, i saw Machado at Langosta Lounge Friday night too. Not many people know who he is so he wasnt hounded that much which was cool. I had a feeling he would be there eating before the show. That place does have some excellent food.

I couldnt tell if Jon Swift was there with him, did he play Run River at the show? I know that song is not in the movie, just wondering. I planned on going to the show but after listening to some of Machado's music I wasn't digging it too much, but didnt know Jon Swift was gonna be there, seems like a missed a cool show. Those guys just remind me of the movie Shelter which is awesome for those who havent seen it, I highly recommend it.

Saw the same show in Dc Saturday at the National Geographic Muesum. Great venue to hear the band, very small, and the crowd was great. Loved hearing Taylor talk about his inspirations and to hear the background between Rob, John and Taylor... The music was great and would recommend this show to anyone surfer or nonsurfer.

I didnt catch the show, but...

The Drifter was so full of rob being emo and pretending to be alone that all a lot of good surfing footage got cut and they had to make the sessions movie. Could have skipped step 1, IMHO. I cant discount his surfing though, as a goofy footer I put him right behind occy and gerry lopez.

i was there and def. though it was sweet. it's always better watching a movie when the soundtrack is live.

ha ha! Ugh... I hate listening to his psychohippie babel Bullsh!t... That guy makes no sense when he talks. I hate on east coast surf sometimes ..... but I hate when people from west coast do it. On his Firsthand a few years back he was in Wrightsville for the Sweetwater contest and downed the surf (it was small). Next he goes home to California and is all "This place is perfect ...I can surf here any day" IT WAS JUST AS CRAPPY AS WRIGHTSVILLE (he was riding SUP jumped off in he shallows and broke his foot). Dozens and dozens of days out of the year West coasters can justifiably claim there homebreak kills anything going down on the right coast but this was pathetic...

Machado just played as a thrid guitar player, didnt sing at all. It was basically Jon Swift music. He wrote most of the tracks. It was a cool vibe the surfing in the movie wasnt all time, and i wont be purchasing the flick but it was cool seeing Dane ,Kelly Machado, Kalani Robb & pthers playing in fun playful surf. Some pretty cool barrel rides in the movie. Machado draws such sick lines on lefts
