I've been tagging along with my surfer boyfriend and after a beach bound summer I want to learn to surf. My sweetheart tossed me on one of his longboards but it felt really difficult. Would a smaller board be easier should I get my boyfriend to buy me a funboard or are his longboards OK for learning even if I'm petite (5,4 and 125).
i think once you learn to comfortably stand up and are able to have somewhat of a feel for wave gliding(like turning down the face of the way and surfing parallel to the beach) it would be a good idea to move to a shorter funboard-they still have a stable long board shape-but they are lighter and would def be more easily maneuvered by a small betty like yourself
Coco, quit posting such stupid ****. The girl asked you a question retard, you probably suck at surfing anyways, so you don't have any good ad
I think that you should learn (in small surf mind you) on a longboard. It's good to learn the basics of standing up, and paddling, and turning. However, you shouldn't "buy": a longboard, just use your boyfriends, until you get comfortable. Once you're getting ready to actually start surfing, i suggest you get a fun shape. They're really good for florida, because they ride similar to a longboard, but you can handle them like a short board. Also an "egg" is a really good board to use for florida, because the surf is never really bumping. I suggest that you try to stay away from the typical "short boards", You will get really frustrated and it will stray you away from surfing,
So enjoy the beach and the surf your heart out girl
