When Hurricane Bill came thru, and Andy Irons and other "pros" were it the water, it was hard to pick them out among the other "unknowns" ripping it up.

not a problem when it's early in the morning, pumping swell , off-season or cold and uninhabited.that's nj surfing for us.we don't care to glorify it,and we want to be left alone.no pride,just surf,humbling,pretty decent,surf.unknown surfers riding waves no one ever sees,alone in nj,12 months a year for years and years.put that in your surfers journal.

tony g. was in the top 25 in the world before davoli or randazzo.ellie keck was in the top twenty more than once on the women's tour.i could go on forever here.this article is not only mis-respresenting a lot of us,it's packed with lies,for example,the springsteen surfing connection is beyond a major stretch.billy joel shreds long beach on a CI dumpster diver 'from time to time,' too,ha-ha, and i surfed with bon jovi in long branch yesterday.i mean how does he get away with this?

BeachBreak, is Ellie Keck still surfing up there? I grew up surfing with her, Wayne, Doug and Dave Hopper way back in the early eighties. She had the smoothest style ever and I'm sure she still does. I can still see her hands bent up at the wrists as she makes a smooth cutback surfing first jetty at Sandy Hook at the crack of dawn. That was when first jetty existed, lol.

yeah,i see her around and she still surfs the same.that jetty was a long perfect right off the rocks all the way into the racetrack inside beach,and we could get it all to ourselves.like surfing in a swimming pool,so clean and mellow

Yeah, what a place that was back then, I surfed every jetty up to the cove just about every swell for 15 years, Damn.
