Just bought a starter kit from green light the other day. $450 for a 6'6'' blank, probox thruster fit setup, all the materials and tools (saws, sandpaper, planer, masks, etc), instructional videos, as well as shipping. Havent started shaping yet but they seem really helpful and are willing to answer any questions you got while you are in the process of shaping. They have gotten a lot of positive reviews from people. If you have all the tools or can borrow them, the foamez might be good but if you are starting from scratch like me you can't go wrong with Green Light.
For someone brand new to surf board building, what are some pros and cons of EPS and PU/PE blanks? Looking to build a fish about 5'10.
PU/PE is easier to shape for a newbie than EPS. I've shaped about 15 PU/PE and 5 EPS and would still much rather shape poly blanks...so buttery smooth! US Blanks sells a 5'10" Rich Pavel fish blank that is perfect for what you want to make. You can glass the PU/PE blank in epoxy resin which is also easier in case you havent glassed a board before.
