I was there three years ago for my honey moon, was in Montetina for one day, it was not a good day, but from what I have heard the point break gets excellent. Here is a post I did from Delsurf, http://www.delsurf.com/forum/viewtop...hlight=ecuador
And a trip report I wrote for a friends Web site.

buena suerte amigo! you'll get some good waves for sure. it's been firing down that way...
i know a guy who did a tactical strike trip to the galapagos and scored massive waves. i have no idea where, but i saw pictures and it looked sick. i guess they needed permits or something to surf some of the reefs though because they were protected. he said the waves looked epic but were really hard to get into because they came flying into the reef and would just unload right away. the other spots sounded really cool though and i would love to have the chance to surf there.
thanks all. waves here fun...long if not exceptionally big. second longest wave in the world is at an island here off of mompiche. water is mid-80's, as is the air. 4-6 feet in canoa with a consistent right hand break. weekend is a zoo there but weekdays are dead. i was alone for an hour on a weds and was joined by 3 local guys and two american girls spread out over a quarter mile.....no crowds. fish plate is still 4 bucks. pedernales was more crowded and definitely dirtier, but it is local tourist season. surf season is winter (dec-feb) when things are bigger and crowds are more foreign. in puerto lopez now.... no surf but it is whale season so tons of foreigners....first american english i've heard in 2+ weeks. will not make it to galapagos but will hit montanitas monday. thanks for ideas and insights. tagua, anyone?
