    Whales off Asbury Park

This is right near one of the breaks I frequent..Did anybody see this over the weekend? Talk about an unexpected visitor to the lineup.

i remember in puerto rico there was a whale that kept breaching a few hundred feet out from the lineup it was crazy. it's kind of scary too though, having such a giant creature in the water with you

Whattt!! that picture is perfect. I thought it was gonna be a freeze frame from a cell phone video or some horrible shot of it.

yeah, no doubt. The seals are cool. The dolphins are cool, but ive been surfing blacks and a few other spots and seen some big as$ whales a couple hundred feet away in the sub channel. It is a very creepy feeling. Something that big, moving so much water around.... I have seen swimmers out diong laps in the cove almost get breached with the whales before.... I would be cool checking them out on a big boat, but up close and personal is way too creepy for me.

I have a hippy friend who lives on a boat and there was a giant whale that stayed in the bay for about 30 days straight. My friend told me that if it got anywhere near his boat, he was going to jump in and swim with the whale. I told him he would probably die if hegot anywhere near the whale. So much moving water. The dude is also insane in general... But i think being in the water near a whale is just crazy talk. Crazy talk i say!

I have to agree...it's fascinating but a bit creepy, eerie, and scary all at the same time. We've all been bumped by something (sandshark, bluefish, bunker, etc.) at one time or another. I can't imagine getting "bumped" by something that large, especially with the volume of water they move.
