Appreciate the interest of saving the break but whatever you do, don't drop the name on here brah. It's gonna make it more crowded than it already is. Let the locals work it out with the beach club.
well, id only go to that spot that one day. i got my own little spot 2 blocks from my house, the name everyone else knows will remain nameless, but the real name me and my buddies gave it is the ghetto pocket lol
This issue has been resolved.
The 5-0 was called to remove people from the private beach club's beachfront and swimming area, the lifeguards had gone off duty and I'm guessing the beach club didn't want to find a body on their beach in the morning. The cops were called to "remove the riff raff" from the beach. The cops that responded were overzealous, probably pissed off for having to walk on the beach in uniform, and just kicked everyone out.
The homegrown local locals were told this would not happen again.
So there's no need for the critical mass 1000 surfer paddle out, yet that is......
Good news.....it's a good spot, I'd hate to see it go bad. Strength in numbers...when needed.
anybody know about this "bill passed by christie" in regards to beach/water access that OP mentioned? sounds ****ty.
It is sh!ty, he gave the individual towns the right to control beach access, which means things may get worse. And they're still going to get OUR tax dollars to fix their private beaches. Bend over NJ and spread your a$$ cheeks you're about to get a$$ F^@%d Hard!
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whats going to happen.
If you think about it elections rely on money, rich people donate to politicians, rich people tell the politicians do what I want or you get no money for your campaign = I don't want the public on my beach, keep them off or you get no money.
You can't tell me this isn't already happening.
Maybe we do need a 1000 surfer paddle out!
Can someone provide a link to the actual law or legislative summary? From what I can read, the new law allows beach towns to EXEMPT certain groups from paying beach access fees, not control access. You either pay the normal fee or if you are in an exempt group you don't pay or pay a reduced rate. Sounds like a golden opportunity for surfrider to lobby to get surfers exempted.
forcing people to pay to use the ocean sickens me, just as preventing people from surfing during the majority of the day does. i think the bill actually prohibits private beaches, but i guess its all the towns decision.
