i don't want to turn this into a political rant thread, but it's not just teachers. yea, he frequently singles them out, unfairly in my mind. yes, i'm biased as i'm a public school teacher. but christie has a thing against ANY public employee & ANY job that's unionized. the only shift he's trying to make is to continue to make the rich richer & the poor poorer. christie is the WORST kind of republican...hypocritical & clueless. contrary to what believers in reaganomics think, privitization is not a cure-all panachea.
Christie has to make cuts. There are some Jersey tax payers that have 57% of their income taken by government. Teachers are great but most public employees suck (DMV workers). Cut public programs and employment and give everyone the money back that was stolen from them.
any body ever had or ridden in a 06 chevy colorado xtreme? saw one for sale that looked pretty good
bought an '89 E-150,loaded up the family, boards, etc.,drive all night to Hatteras, then BANG! hit two deer at once in the middle of the night in the middle of Virginia.pulled over, everything was fine, back on our way, just a couple dents and busted the plastic grille a little.had that van a good long time.apparently deer breed in early november at 2 in the morning in Virginia
contrary to popular belief, taxes are not the spawn of satan, devised by the gov't to steal $$$ away from hardworking folk. if the gov't wants to do anything at all, it needs $$$ & the only way to get it is thru taxation. public education, interstate highways, etc...all funded by taxes. the problem is that most people view taxes as an unnecessary evil, leading the politicians they elect to do things like promise more benefits & lower taxes. it's an untenable situation. in the state of nj, they have been raiding pension funds &/or not paying their share, while the workers who are contractually (& thus legally) entitled to them upon retirement pay into those pension funds year after year. & then christie comes along & has the gall to insinuate that unionized public workers (including teachers) don't pay into their pensions or for healthcare. i do both. i pay (paid) for my healthcare via $$$ that came out of my paycheck, just like everyone else who works private sector. now i may more, above & beyond what the private sector pays.
if christie REALLY wanted to change the way things are run in the state, some cuts would have to be made, yes. but he would also have to do things like require the state to not raid pension & retirement funds to pay for other things.
