Thanks for all the help guys! Just trying to do my best to not piss anyone off. I went out in sea bright over the weekend and it wasn't too bad. Very choppy but I got a few good waves.

There are a couple of surf camps in Monmouth County that have afterschool and weekend programs through the fall. Not saying to go to the camp, but may be good spots to surf as the locals anticipate a lot of beginners. You can piggy back while the camps are on.

you can surf wherever you want. even where guys are "killing it". just make sure that before you do, you can paddle and duckdive properly. stay out of people's way, don't drop in, all that good stuff which you should know before you even paddle out for the first time on a surfboard. you'll be fine. nobody is gonna kick you out of the water if you're being cool to everyone. you might get vibed-out by some a$$holes, but that can happen driving to work.
