it's the libertarian in me that is annoyed w/ the cops in this video. yes, they're just doing their job...but the fact that it was shut down at all is ridiculous. oh, & the boardwalk is PUBLIC property...held by the gov't in TRUST for the citizenry. it is in no way private property. saying that the closure is for "safety" is a sham...it's to protect their own asses from a potential lawsuit if someone moron does decide to go swim & drowns.
i have a cousin that is a state trooper, so don't confuse me w/ some cop-hating moron. i just think that people need to be allowed to exercise their common sense before that concept withers away permenantly in our society...& they need to reap the consequences of poor choices as well. if someone wants to go surf after a hurricane & they get in trouble, that's on them. no one should be going to save them.
