Neti Pot

I just use the salt mixture packets that it comes with and although it says use previously boiled water, I use luke warm tap water. Does anyone know if it really makes a difference?

Rare case, but I would only use distilled or boiled water in that thing.

And, my best friend is a Ear-Nose-Throat Doc. He has never said yes or no to the neti. Like anything in this complex world, too much of one thing is never good!

My philosophy for the neti is in opposition to my life style. I swim 3k-8k per day year round and surf year round thus I always have water going through my nasal passages.

From what was explained to me, a neti would NOT DO A THING FOR ME! Instead, I respond well to very hot and dry heat, hence, the sauna.

If you are not in the water all the time, neti could work for you. I just feel that they are bogus, but that could be due to the fact that I live in water so I do not need more water stuck up in there...

It uses positive pressure to really get everything out- instead of draining it thru, it flushes it out! I have not had any problems or had any infections since using it- but I only use it when I know that the water is dirty/runoff after a storm... and I only use bottled water or brita filtered water. Big promoter of this!!!

Cool. I wasn't sure if you were a Doc or not. Most of the Drs I work with will give varying opinions. Almost every allergist and about 75% of ENTs think they work. A few older ones dont like them but all said the key is CLEAN water. That's where the benefit comes in. It flushes all the bad crap like pollen, bacteria, dirt, sand etc.

Nah, you really shouldn't. Have you ever cleaned out an old hot water tank. all sorts of nasty stuff tends to be in there.
