    I think there should be a thread like this everyday so that anyone who thinks this is a good idea will get the message. Heaven forbit this catches on like the sups have, lol.

    I swear I don't want one. Surfing is all about learning to use the waves energy to the most advantage. Any kind of power even from a kite isn't surfing to me (although I think kiting is a cool way to "surf" those overly windy choppy days). I could see it if the burst of power helped to catch the wave only and then you could surf it normally. But like I said in a previous post, when you watch the video you can see the huge amount of drag when the board isn't powered up so you would always need to have the motor running on some level. I really think a surfboard in the right hands is way way faster than one of those things.

    yeah i agree. i like surfing as it is, strictly organic. but i feel if we embrace the technology, maybe one day we can get powered boards that are thin and light enough to have no drag, and shut down when reaching faster-than-paddling speeds.
