    New Roberts board porn

Just got my new summer quiver. The UPS guy quickly propped the box up on the outside of the van while he ran back in to do something else. From my window, I watched in horror as the box slowly slid off the van and slammed onto the street...ugh. Fortunately, the boards are epoxy and Hydroflex padded the fudge out of them, so they look o.k.

Anyway, I custom ordered a Mutant and a Modern 80's...four months ago!!!! Came with stock Thermotech (plastic) fins and a bunch of Hydroflex stickers.

Great looking boards, but I'm annoyed Hydroflex didn't exactly follow the few detail choices they asked me to make. They said it was a "mistake", but I'm leaning toward someone in production took creative license and decided swapping my color choices would look better (I asked for orange accents on the Mutant and green on the Modern 80's)...then they airbrushed the Modern 80's rails orange (I didn't ask for paint. Yeah, it looks good...until you fix a ding on it). On the optimistic side, they usually charge $50 for airbrush (didn't charge me, of course) and I didn't ask for the carbon tail patch, either (no charge).

    Mock-ups I sent them 4 months ago:

If interested in Hydroflex, you might want to buy one off the rack...unless you can't find a must-have specific model (my case). That way you don't have to wait 4 months and you know exactly what it's going to look like from the start.

only 2 boards...pics are top and bottom of each. 3D epoxy glass supposedly lasts over twice as long as polyester, so ends up being less exp than standard boards in the long run.

    Mod 80s dims are 6'0" x 19 3/4" x 2 3/16". Mutant dims are 5'9" x 20 3/8" x 2 3/8". Vol aren't listed, but based on stock models, these should hover around the 32-34 Liter range.

How much are they per board? My shaper charges me around $350-400 but they are not epoxy so these may be more. At $400 x 4 that's only $1,600 for a whole quiver. Not bad in my book. Hell my guitar and amp cost roughly that much for each then about $700 worth of effects pedals, cables, Etc. Now my wife thinks surfing is a much cheaper hobby for me.
