I HOPE owen wins and takes it. HOPE.. im a slater fan but Owen really deserves it.. slaters getting a little over rated.

If he's not surfing he's studying each wave of each heat, or determining which shape and which fins work best down to the centimeter of foam or fiberglass.
He does have a natural ability to surf well, but it's his extra busy work that places him way ahead of the competition.

C'mon now. All surfers are great at math from all the years of selling grams, eight's, quarters & Halves. It's the english grammar that is sub par, for example this forum.
But yes, the ASP is dumb!
The problem, from how I see it, is they assumed the computer program that processed all the rankings and claimed Kelly is the world champion was correct. However, there was a small error in the algorithm... Fortunately, there was some folks that properly challenged the claim.
No matter how you slice it, the ASP showed why they can't be taken seriously as a sanctioning body. They were so quick to get the word out to grab any media attention they could get from Ke11y's win and now they wind up looking arse backwards. What is worse is that the heat win and celebration afterwards was such an emotional moment in surf history - Ke11y's last minute win, the walk up the beach, on the anniversary of AI's death, a speechless champ - and the whole thing means nothing.
Really is a shame. He'11 get it, no doubt, but the magic of the moment is gone.
And the longer the contest is put on hold, the more the mainstream media is going to pick up on the error and make all us surfers look like Jeff Spicoli.
yeah the points systems weird but 10 time,soon to be 11 time champions are not over rated,especially in an individual sport
