I've seen body boarders/bodysurfers drop in on waves that would give you nightmares and a salt water enima, as well.
+1. I could ride a skateboard when I was 5 so I guess that makes Tony Hawk a ***** compared to any kook who can manage to stand up for 3 seconds on a short board. I could ride a bike when I was 5 also so I guess that puts Lance Armstrong and all those X games bmxers in the same boat.
the person riding the wave gets respect based on how well they do it - regardless of the craft they choose
watch "come hell or high water" you get new respect for bodysurfing
watch mike stewart at pipe or stohr at southside & get new respect for bodyboarders
watch wingnut at cloudbreak and get respect for longboarders etc.
claiming you can judge a surfer by the craft they carry is racist
Although i used to almost only bodyboard, i have started to enjoy surfing more. I still have respect for bodyboarding just enjoy one a little more then the other. On some of the much bigger days we have where the waves are a little steep and above my skill level, ill still take out a bodyboard just so i can still enjoy the waves.
