yo for anyone unaware of the SOPA/ PIPA acts they are practically trying to ruin the internet... our government is at it again to try and destroy our rights.
Sign the petition to help stop SOPA/ PIPA on google.
If you don't know anything about it wikipedia still works for sopa/pipa pages read it up.
PS: google, aol, reddit, craigs list and a ton of other major companies openly expressed their rejection to the act! Lets help them out!
i mean that the profanity does nothing to help your case w/ those who might not know anything about these acts or be initially inclined to support them (i'm already against them & have signed several petitions). you're not going to sway anyone's opinion via profanity. only through clear, precise, well-reasoned arguments. belittling people doesn't make them want to change their minds, it just makes them cling even harder to their beliefs.
& before you say that i belittled you, i was simply offering a bit of advice. THAT'S what i mean.
Uhh.. I'm one of those nerdy guys who works with computers and has a whole bunch of tech degrees and honestly you don't want this passed. It's going to make the internet less secure than it already is and will shut down major companies like Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing, Facebook, Twitter, the list goes on and on. Pretty much the government is proposing to censor the internet by blocking the nameservers to domains that contain illegal downloads. They are making the search engines and social media networks responsible for what is posted on them. So for example if this gets passed and I posted an illegal link to a site on these forums the US government could sue Swell Info for having that link I posted on these forums.
A quick example...
So if you tried to go to www.google.com and google was block it simply wouldn't load. But if you typed in the IP to the hostname google is running off of, so like 172.23.42.12, you could still get on google. Pretty much they are just trying to make it more complicated to pirate stuff and by being lazy they resorted to the easy way which won't work at all and just kill our internet.
If it passes it would give the government full power over internet regulation... We would be like China. It's really confusing if anyone is interested in it send me a pm I will explain it more in depth.

I am going to act like the government and pull the old...until it happens, I am going to sit back and relax
lethargy is not how the gov't does things, at least not when it comes to "security". w/ the patriot act & others, the people we send to washington have shown time & again that they will use every opportunity to try to strip away our rights. we cannot afford to stand idly by & watch any longer.
